Julia will be discussing her book Soviet Daughter alongside Leila Abdelrazaq (Baddawi), Iasmin Omar Ata (Mis(h)adra), and Dave Ortega (Dias de Consuelo), moderated by Jason Rodriguez (editor, Comics Without Borders: Latinx Youth Speak Their Truth). At the Massachussets Independent Comics Expo (MICE) at Lesley University, near Porter Square, Cambridge.

Julia will be leading and participating in a panel entitled ART x Resistance: Political Aesthetics in the Wake of Trump, on the eve of the Inauguration. She will be joined by:

  • Josh MacPhee, designer, artist, and archivist; founding member of both the Justseeds Artists' Cooperative and the Interference Archive
  • Phil Rabovsky, visual artist and MFA student at the School of Visual Arts in New York
  • Natasha Racic, photographer and conceptual artist
  • Matt Lubchansky, cartoonist and illustrator, creator of the webcomic Please Listen to Me, and founder of The Nib

11/16/16 - Reading at The Back Room at Jimmy's No. 43

On Wednesday, November 16, 2016, Julia will be reading from Soviet Daughter (upcoming Jan 2017) at Peculiar Streams XXXI, in The Back Room at Jimmy's No. 43, East Village, New York City. 9-11 PM. This will be the first public reading from the book, and will include exclusive projections of the book's interior pages. All are welcome!
